Celtic won the first of their 9-in-a-row by beating Motherwell at Fir Park in 1966. Number 2 was won at Ibrox in 1967, No 3 at East End Park in 1968 and Number 4 was wrapped up at Rugby Park.

Number 5 came at Tynecastle. For Number 6, technically a home fixture, the fans had to go to Hampden in 1971, as Celtic Park was being re-developed. Number 7 arrived at Methil, the home of East Fife in 1972 and number 8 was picked up at Easter Road.

On this day in 1973, when the Celtic players ran out at Parkhead for the first home league match of the new season, with Clyde as the visitors, every one of them wore the number 8 on their shorts to commemorate 8-in-a-row.
