25th September 1968 Celtic 4 Hamilton 2

Manager Jock Stein must really have been looking forward to the LC QF 2nd leg tie against Hamilton at Parkhead on this day in 1968.
10-0 up from the first leg, thanks to five goals each by Bobby Lennox and Steve Chalmers, he knew he could afford to give one or two new names a try-out without any real pressure on them
Goalkeeper Bobby Wraith made his one and only appearance for the club that night; 19-year-old left-back John Gorman made his first-team debut; midfielder Pat McMahon got a run-out and also scored; and Jimmy Quinn, with only a few first-team appearances behind him, was paired with Joe McBride up front
Then, when Charlie Gallagher went off injured in the second half, a young man called Kenny Dalglish was sent on for the first of what would be a distinguished 320 appearances for the club.
The small crowd of around 4,000 would have been totally unaware they were present at a most iconic moment in Celtic’s history.
